Galveston County Fair and Rodeo - KICK-OFF PARADE

Join the fun of a hometown parade. On Saturday at 10 a.m., April 15, 2017 the Galveston County Fair & Rodeo will officially open with a Kick-Off Parade. This year “Barn in the USA” is the theme. Floats, emergency vehicles, trucks, golf carts, bicycles, tractor, horseback riders, wagons, and marching groups are all welcomed. It is free to have an entry in the parade, but you must submit a completed entry form by Thursday, April 6, 2017. Politically motivated entries will pay a non-refundable $15.00 entry fee to be submitted with a parade entry form.

Parade entries will be judge for Best Entry Overall. A trophy will be awarded to the top judges’ choice. Line up begins at 9 a.m. The parade line up starts at the VFW Post 5400, 11230 Hwy 6 in Santa Fe and will end at the Galveston County Fairgrounds. New this year will be an Easter egg hunt taking place at the fairgrounds.

The parade is the signature kick-off event for the 79th annual Galveston County Fair and Rodeo. The Fair is scheduled to run from April 21 – 29, 2017 at Jack Brooks Park in Hitchcock, Texas. Rodeo action, carnival rides, livestock judging contest, and seafood and bbq cook-off competitions are scheduled to be part of the fair’s run. The entertainment lineup includes Roger Creager, Joe Diffie, the Hometown Boys, Bag of Donuts, Cory Morrow, and Rick Trevino.
